He now identifies as male and has transitioned to male gender, making his long struggle with gender identity come to an end. Studies indicate that approximately 1% of the population is transsexual. It is clear that there are people who are aware that they are transgender from their earliest memories. Many trans people feel that their gender identity is an innate part of them, an integral part of who they were born to be. Transgender people experience a persistent and authentic difference between their assigned sex and understanding of their gender.
